Corina Crisan
Corina Crisan is the Ethics and Human Rights Consultant at the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Connecticut. She helps identify, analyze and resolve ethical issues encountered in various circumstances by the Romanian-American community in CT and promotes respect for human rights in the consulate's practices. She helps the Honorary Consulate support its consular mission by following a set of ethical, humanitarian principles, counsels newly arrived Romanian immigrants and helps them overcome cultural differences. Corina has an extensive background in the humanities: undergraduate studies in Philosophy at Babes-Bolyai University-Cluj, postgraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Bucharest and continues her interest in Applied Philosophy with Doctoral School at West University of Timisoara. She is a member of the American Philosophical Association, the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy, the American Teilhard Association and the Society for Applied Philosophy. A certified human rights consultant by the US Institute for Diplomacy and Human Rights, certified as a computer specialist by the British Council, she has worked for more than a decade as a research librarian at the Romanian Academy-Cluj Branch, co-authored a "Catalogue of Modern Philosophy Books," and has published numerous studies and research papers in the field of humanities. Her professional experience also includes hands-on roles in the non-profit sector and several civic and human rights education projects with the League for the Defense of Human Rights (International Federation for Human Rights), as well as other educational projects; among others a school pilot project for Philosophy for Kids (which won an international essay contest "Kids Philosophy Slam''), a philosophy program for seniors ("Inquiring Minds" at the West Hartford Senior Center, CT), and many other initiatives in support of broad-based education for citizens.
