The Romanian Robotics team AutoVortex + AutoVortex FAN COURIER ranked first in the International Championship CRI 2021, which took place in Chicago, on July 16 and 17, 2021. The team previously won the first prize and gold medals at the International Robotics Championship FTC Russia 2021, held in the Russian Federation, on April 23-25, followed by the first place in the Asia Pacific Robotics Championship in July 2021. The team members (ages 13 to 18) are coordinated by Assistant Professor Ionuț Valentin Panea, PhD and mentored by the emeritus student Ion Rares Stefan. It is the first time since 1989 that a non-US team manages to win the first place in the competition held on American ground. The team also set a new world record in points.
