Romania’s flag is now high on top of the Connecticut State Capitol where it was raised on December 1st, and where it will fly for a week between the USA and the Connecticut flags. This was the fourth edition of the flag raising ceremony organized by the Honorary Consulate of Romania to Connecticut on the Romanian National Day. On this edition of the event, the Romanian-American community members were joined by the Senator Saud Anwar, Megan Torrey, CEO of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut, Zaheer Sharaf, President of the Pakistani American Association of Connecticut and other friends of the community. After the Honorary Consul’s Address and Introductions, the opera singer Laurentiu Rotaru interpreted “Our Father” prayer by Ciprian Porumbescu. Our distinguished guest speaker, Senator Saud Anwar impressed the audience with his Address, partly delivered in Romanian. The ceremony proceeded with Laurentiu Rotaru interpreting the US National Anthem and then the Romanian National Anthem, which accompanied the Romanian Flag Raising.
