On July 26th 2022, the Romanian government publicly launched its National Plan of Measures for the Integration of 100,000 Ukrainian refugees in Romania in the medium and long term, aiming at supporting refugees to become independent in the shortest time possible. This National Action Plan, adopted through an emergency ordinance, includes a set of concrete measures designed to simplify the employment procedure, education, healthcare and housing access, and a framework for providing targeted language courses. The plan was crafted in cooperation with the representatives of the civil society and of and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). According to the Romanian Prime Minister, Romania becomes the first country within the EU to set up a longer-term set of measures intended for the smooth integration of Ukrainian refugees.
