On August 7th, we had the annual meeting of our Honorary Consulate’s team, including the two summer student interns, whose volunteer work contributed to the cause of new immigrants (Romanian and Ukrainian) in Connecticut: Nicu Luigi Marcu and Julia Todeasa. The staff was also joined by its Ukrainian friends, Alona and Vlada, actively assisting the Consulate’s “Connecticut for Ukraine Refugee Matching Program”. The Honorary Consul and the team (in charge with written arts: Nora Vasilescu, artistic programs: Iuliana Roata, commercial director: Mihaela Ungureanu and fundraising: Antonia Baroga) welcomed Luiza Budea as the new Plastic Arts Project Coordinator, who will handle two different art-based projects that would advance the mission of our Consulate (National Heritage Mural and coordinating an art exhibit that will take place on December 1st which brings Romanian and Ukrainian artists together, with some proceeds going to help Ukrainian causes).
In addition to the interns’ activity and the new arts projects, the team discussed other future plans, such as organizing Romania’s National Day, a series of business meet & greet networking events centered around how to assist Romanian businesses to succeed in the CT market, coordinated by Mihaela Ungureanu, a practical philosophy program devised by Corina Crisan, a future creative writing class in Romanian held by Nora Vasilescu, and the Romanian presence at the Polish International Folklore Festival on September 11.
