At the invitation of the Romanian Government (Departamentul pentru Românii de Pretutindeni), the Honorary Consul Dana Bucin traveled to Bucharest, Romania to attend a series of events geared at reconnecting the Romanian Diaspora with their cultural roots and governmental leaders charged with serving Romania’s large Diaspora (𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐥 “𝐀𝐢𝐜𝐢-𝐀𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨”, 25-28 May).
We were extremely honored to be personally welcomed by Valentin Făgărășian (Member of Romania’s Parliament serving the Diaspora) at the People’s Palace in Bucharest and enjoy the palace’s history and governance tour as well as discuss many topics of interest for strengthening the Connecticut-Romania relationship.
We further enjoyed receptions at Romania’s National Museum of Art, Village Museum, Fashion Design District, Orthodox Cathedral, as well as many other sites that allowed Romanians worldwide to connect over common heritage.
Inspired by this trip, we look forward to continuing to build and launch several bilateral US-Romanian business, cultural, educational, and community related exchanges starting with the expansion of the Mark Twain International School Bucharest to Connecticut. In doing so, we look forward to collaborating with the Connecticut Secretary of the State, AdvanceCT, and many other global players in CT to serve the rich US-Romania exchanges.
