Members of the Romanian community in the Greater Hartford area joined Honorary Consul Dana Bucin at the Annual Empty Bowls event on March 27 to support the Chrysalis Center, Inc.’s mission of combating hunger in Connecticut.
The Romanian presence at this philanthropic event solidifies the collaboration established between the Honorary Consulate of Romania to Connecticut and the Chrysalis Center, Inc. pursuant to which the Consulate would facilitate structured volunteer opportunities for community service at Chrysalis by Romanian youth and offerings by Romanian artists, caterers, and others in the community who would donate time and talents to support vulnerable populations.Sharon Castelli, CEO of Chrysalis Center, emphasized the urgency of the cause, stating, "As the economy struggles with near recession burdens, food insecurity is at an all-time high. Families across the City of Hartford are struggling to make ends meet and pay for the high cost of food. Today's event is to call attention to the ongoing burden of food insecurity and hunger."
Many thanks to our community members for showing up in support and we invite many others to consider getting involved with our philanthropic initiatives.
